Things I get asked often
For bespoke single residential homes, many clients value working with an experienced building designer who offers direct involvement, detailed documentation, and practical construction knowledge throughout the project.Architects are often better suited to highly experimental work, complex multi-residential projects, or where architectural registration is specifically required.
As involved as you’d like to be. Some clients arrive with a clear vision; others prefer guidance. The process adapts to your decision-making style while ensuring key decisions are made thoughtfully and confidently.
I primarily work within the Northern Rivers, generally within 50km of Byron Bay. I will occasionally travel further for the right project.

Yes, provided compliance and performance requirements can be satisfied. Material selection is always balanced with durability, cost, and suitability for the environment.
A realistic budget is established early. Design decisions around size, complexity, and detailing are aligned with that framework. Where appropriate, independent cost input from a builder or quantity surveyor can be recommended during design.
The initial consultation is complimentary. If you wish to proceed, I prepare a comprehensive written fee proposal (for a small, fixed fee) outlining the full scope of services. This fee is credited in full should you move forward.
Yes. I’m happy to collaborate with your preferred consultants, although projects often run most smoothly when coordination is centralised.
I’m not tied to a specific builder but work fluidly with reputable builders across the Northern Rivers. I can collaborate with your preferred builder or recommend one suited to your project.
Yes, where helpful. The level of detail is agreed early in the process.
Much of my work is bespoke and site-specific. Rather than presenting repeatable designs, each home is approached as a fresh response to its setting and brief.
